As Oslo gets colder and the leaves are falling from the trees, it's time for me to go outside and photograph the amazing colors of autumn! In between these outbursts of color I reminisce about taking photos at the Chase Festival in Heidelberg, Germany. A while back I posted some survivor photos and haven't posted any photos since. I was waiting for the organizers to release the photos as they wanted to combine that with the information for next year. I’m thrilled the wait is over and the photos have finally been released!
One of the things that I really liked about working at this festival is that I was able to collaborate with the venue to light the dance floor as best I could. They had standard theater lighting set-up for a stage and the dance floor (in front of the stage) was minimally lit. I was not able to change much of the back lighting but I was able to get them to turn a small blue spotlight on each side forward to act as a separation light.
The front light I was able to spread out a bit more evenly so as to light up a larger area, so that we could have good lighting on the shows. The front lights were not perfect as they were designed as spotlights for the stage but I'm quite happy with the end results.
Leave a comment below if you like me talking about the lighting setups in my photos and what you would like me to talk more about. Have a great week and see you in the next blog where I go through some chase photos in more detail!
